ReShape Dual Balloon Procedure

reshape non-surgical weight loss procedureThe ReShape Dual Balloon Procedure is the newest procedure at WeightWise. The ReShape Procedure was developed for people who want to achieve significant weight loss and are ready to adopt a new, healthy lifestyle.

The device used in the ReShape Procedure is a dual balloon. The dual balloon is actually two separate silicone balloons with a silicone tube in the middle. The balloons are filled with about two cups of salt water (saline) and a blue dye that shows up in your urine if a balloon breaks. The filled balloons are sealed with mineral oil. They take up space in your stomach for 6 months to help you lose weight. After 6 months, the dual balloon is removed and lifestyle coaching continues. The continuation of diet and exercise coaching is vital to long-term weight loss success.

For many people, diet and exercise alone may not be enough to hit weight loss targets and bariatric surgery may not be an option. The ReShape Procedure is a non-surgical choice for you. Benefits of the ReShape Procedure include:

  • A 20-minute outpatient procedure
  • Does not use surgery
  • Balloons can be taken out at any time if not tolerated
  • Support to help you change your eating habits and keep weight loss long-term

reshape balloonThe ReShape dual balloon was shown to help patients lose more weight than patients who just received diet and exercise counseling alone. On average, the dual balloon patients lost twice as much weight as the patients who only received diet and exercise counseling.

The ReShape Procedure might be right for you if you are an adult with a body mass index (BMI) from 30- 40 and you have failed to lose weight with diet and exercise alone. You must also have one or more conditions related to your obesity (co-morbid conditions). Some examples of these conditions of obesity include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. If you are not sure whether you have any obesity related conditions, your doctor can provide this information.

Be sure to ask questions about other weight loss treatments. The ReShape Procedure is not the only treatment choice. Other choices include diet and exercise programs or — for patients who qualify — surgery (gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy). You should talk with your doctor to pick the one that best fits your needs.

Typically it is $7495, but we are running a special for $6000. This includes the balloon placement, removal, and all visits except the initial visit with the doctor.

I had the gastric bypass and lost 90 pounds, in 2013, Dr. Walton was my surgeron. I managed to maintain weight, but I simply can’t get past any more. My weight is 235-240, and am 5’6″ I am to a point of giving up. Would this be an option for me? I have Coventry Insurance. However we are switching to Blue Cross next year. I have also met my deductable this year. If insurance doesn’t pay, what is the cost.

Hi Launa, Sadly insurance does not cover the balloon at all. Since you had the gastric bypass a few years ago it would be up to Dr. Walton if that would be a possibility. Your best option is to schedule a follow up with Dr. Walton ASAP to discuss this. Please call 405-359-2475 to schedule.

Yes, we can do a pre-payed payment plan for any of our procedures. Once you are set up with our surgeons and have the process going, contact Melissa Cruz at melissa.c@weightwise.com. She will get you set up with a payment plan.
