We all get to take a week here and there for a vacation! It’s suppose to be a relaxing time. A time to regroup and be away from work. My husband and I are about to leave on a tropical vacation ourselves! I’m so excited to sit on the beach and do absolutely nothing if  I choose! But with all that relaxing it can be very easy to get out of the routine of eating right, drinking fluids ( the good kind ) and exercising. So here are some ways to plan ahead and still get your exercise in.

First off, research your hotel or surroundings. Many places have great fitness centers just waiting to be used! Take advantage of this. Talk about your plans before you go. Our plan is to get up 4 mornings of our 6 day trip to go use the fitness center for 45 minutes! Hopefully this happens but if we don’t stick to it 100%  life will still go on. I feel like it is important to still maintain the habits of exercise because if we don’t, come Monday morning 5:15 a.m. will be brutal! The other two days we plan to either sleep in & go walk on the beach. I also discovered they have paddle boarding, which is something I’ve been wanting to try!  So take some time to look for activities and plan ahead. It’s your vacation, have fun and try something new.

Take a pedometer with you. If you are taking a trip that has a lot of walking involved, it’s kind of fun to know how far you have walked. When I was in New York a few years ago, we did so much walking my jeans were looser when I got home! But it was such a cool city it didn’t feel like working out.

Pack workout clothing, your headphones, shoes and anything you usually need to workout. Resistance bands travel super well. They do not take up much space and are great for exercise. Try and remember to pack the water cup you typically use. This always helps me to remember to drink my fluids and how much I have had.

If you have a lay over, instead of reading a book, start walking the airport. I’m sure you can get a lot of people watching in and you’ll be less anxious about your travels. Exercise has been proven to decrease depression and anxiety!

I hope you all enjoy your vacations!!!
