It’s the beginning of a New Year! Happy 2015!!! It’s a new start! So what is your motivation to get fit this year?

Is it because someone suggested working out?

Do you have a goal in mind?

Swimsuit season?

Do you want to be able to keep up with your kids or grand kids?

Run/Walk a 5k?

Survive Zumba class?

Go into a Yoga class and try it?

Whatever the reason is it’s YOUR reason and no one else’s. I have clients all the time ask me to motivate them, but honestly, what motivates me may not motivate you! You have to do it for YOU! I can be your cheerleader and encourage you but at the end of the day it’s you that has to make it happen.

Here is some homework for you……make a list of the things that keep you from exercising and take them on one at a time. Maybe you are intimidated going to a gym?  Guess what, you are not alone! I still get intimidated going into a gym!! Will people know I’m new here, will I do something wrong? If a gym setting is not for you  go outside or work out at home. Ask your spouse or friend to go with you. I am more motivated to workout when I have a buddy. Especially in this cold weather!  My motivation in this cold weather is my precious Claire! She sleeps all day and all she wants to do when I get home  is play!

Maybe the extra weight is making it hard to workout, which is understandable, but each day you can do something to help you reach your goal. Try just  an extra 10 minutes of activity every day and before you know it, it will get easier and easier.  The arm bike is always a great piece of equipment to have at home.

Exercise has so many benefits, such as:

  • Lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease
  • Improved mood ( we can all use this some days 🙂 )
  • It will actually give you energy! I promise!!
  • You can control your weight better
  • Improves your high blood pressure
  • Improves your sex life
  • Improves your self-esteem

The list goes on and on! So take control and start exercising! New year, new you!!!  We believe in you!
