At WeightWise, our primary goal is to help transform the lives of each patient that walks through our doors. We believe that making that first step to talk to a bariatric surgeon is a life-changing moment. When you make an appointment at our office, we are excited for the potential that you have in reaching your weight loss goals. At WeightWise, we want to encourage you to be your best self.
Our team of doctors, nurses, and office staff are dedicated to seeing each patient thrive throughout each stage of their journey to weight loss. Dr. Gregory F. Walton and Dr. Toby Broussard are General and Bariatric Surgeons at WeightWise and they both come with significant training and expertise in helping patients of all kinds. Dr. Walton and Dr. Broussard have performed many surgeries over the years and specialize in laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, lap band surgery, and laparoscopic gastric sleeve surgery.
Dr. Broussard was initially introduced to bariatric surgery during his residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, and during his 13 years working at his private practice, he continued to study it. Eventually, he decided he wanted to devote his time to only bariatric surgery and by working at WeightWise he can work in his field of passion.
Dr. Walton has experienced his own medical complications after suffering a devastating injury from an oil field explosion. He was not expected to survive, but with determination and drive, he came out from his experience stronger than ever and committed to helping others live life to the fullest. He earned a medical degree and started a general surgery residency in Alabama where he was able to learn more about bariatric surgery. He started a general surgery practice in Enid and performed several hundred bariatric operations in three years’ time. Then in 2006, Dr. Walton joined forces with Dr. Broussard to start WeightWise.
Together, the team has worked on about 6,500 cases in the last 12 years. Our complication rate is less than the national average at 1 to 2% which is lower risk than a gallbladder removal. Even more impressive is a 0% death rate. That is something that we are proud of and we are happy to answer any questions you might have about the process so you have all the information you need to make your decision.
Our partnership with Summit Medical Center:
By partnering with Summit Medical Center, which is a state-of-the-art specialty hospital, we can provide the best of the best in bariatric surgical care. This hospital’s objectives align perfectly with our own clinic’s objectives: making sure each person experiences a successful outcome after weight loss surgery. Our partnership with Summit Medical Center has allowed us to reduce our risk for patient surgery complications, and that’s why our complication rates have stayed well below the national average.
Summit Medical Center offers private patient rooms that have a comfortable fold out couch for a family member to stay and support the recovering patient. We often hear patients and their families say that feel like they are in a hotel rather than a hospital. Medical care here is attentive and responsive, and we are proud to partner with the team here to make our patient’s recovery as smooth and successful as possible.
Bariatric surgery has come a long way over the years, and it is no longer something that people fear or look down on. Instead, the results speak for themselves: people are experiencing healthier and more active lifestyles. Now, they are living longer – simply because they had a successful weight loss surgery. At WeightWise, we offer a variety of procedures and work to educate our patients on which one is right for them. We offer the following bariatric procedures:
- Laparoscopic Roux en Y Gastric Bypass
- Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
- Single Anastomosis Duodenal Switch
- Laparoscopic Revisional Weight Loss Surgery
- Adjustable Gastric Band
Not sure which procedure is right for you? When you make an appointment with our experienced surgeons, we will take time to explain the differences, and will closely look over your medical history. We will discuss your body’s unique needs and determine what bariatric surgery method will work best for your situation so you can make the right decision.
This year, we have seen and heard many wonderful stories from our patients that have a new outlook on life, simply because they called WeightWise and committed to changing their lives for the better. Their stories and positive outcomes inspire us to keep helping more people. If you are ready to make the leap to change how you look and how you feel this year, contact us today. Our team at WeightWise is ready to walk alongside you on the path toward a new, beautiful way of living.
