2020 has been a doozy, and that is probably an understatement. Between COVID, murder hornets, and an ice storm in October, I am beyond happy that the holidays are approaching. Time with family, spent responsibly, is a much needed reminder to be thankful even during the craziness. What are you thankful for this year? Don’t worry, I will start. I am thankful for my health, family, friends, and my fur baby of course. I hope the holidays remind each of you of all of your blessings and things to be thankful for, even in 2020 :).
In order to have the best holiday season possible, stay on track! Do not let the holidays ruin your newly established eating habits or set you back from all of your progress. Holidays and get together can still be enjoyed, just minus all of the starches and sweets. Have a conversation with your loved ones about your restrictions. Tell them the types of foods that are best for you, and even take a few dishes that are bariatric friendly for the group to try. Heck, everyone may like what you bring more! That way you are able to have multiple options that will help you feel like you are not excluded from Thanksgiving with your family. I added a few different main course options, for the individuals that do not want ham and/or turkey. However, if you are looking for a ham/turkey recipe, scroll down to the bottle of this post. If you click on one of the previous Thanksgiving menus, you will be able to find them.
