Dr. Keller earned a Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, his Master’s of Education (Counseling) at the University of Central Oklahoma and performed his doctoral work at the University of Oklahoma earning a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. It was during his dissertation research with cardiac patients that Dr. Keller developed a passion for health-related psychology. He then completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the OU Health Sciences Center where he later joined the faculty serving as the Director of the Pediatric Psychology Consultation & Liaison service for Children’s Hospital.

While Dr. Keller maintains a faculty appointment with the OU Health Sciences Center, he left the academic setting in 2001 to establish a private practice in Oklahoma City and performs clinical and administrative duties with Norman Regional Hospital while establishing his practice. It was during his time with Norman Regional Health Systems that Dr. Keller had the privilege to begin working with bariatric patients.

Since 2001, the psychology of bariatrics has become Dr. Keller’s primary specialty. Having performed over 14,000 pre-surgical evaluations and counseled hundreds of post-surgery bariatric patients, Dr. Keller has developed a bio-behavioral approach to weight loss surgery in hopes of maximizing a patient’s long-term success.

Dr. Keller joined the WeightWise Bariatric Program in January of 2006 as Director of Behavioral Health. Since 2009, Dr. Keller has operated a private counseling and consulting practice through which he collaborates with several weight loss surgeons and bariatric programs in central Oklahoma performing pre-surgical evaluations, post-surgery
