What about weight-loss solutions in Stillwater, OK?

It’s true: there are a lot of weight-loss programs in Stillwater. Many businesses offer weight-loss surgeries, create healthy diets, or provide a place to work out. However, very few offices provide it all in one place, and none of them can match our experience, knowledge, and empathy for your situation.

To get a better understanding of exactly what we offer, WeightWise conducts five or six free seminars a month for interested people and their families. These seminars are located less than an hour away from Stillwater, an easy drive to learn more about our life-changing program. At these seminars, you’ll hear from past clients and how our system helped them to a better life.

However, we understand that everyone leads a busy life. If an afternoon attending one of our seminars is simply not convenient, we offer a free online seminar as well. You’ll still be able to learn more about WeightWise, and you’ll be able to do it when it works for you.

The short drive from Stillwater is also beneficial when it comes to the surgery. Depending on the time of day for your surgery, you’ll be able to make the drive that morning and be ready for surgery. However, we do recommend an overnight stay the night of the surgery. While many procedures will allow you to resume your normal day-to-day activities, there may still be some slight discomfort. We recommend staying in town for at least one night after surgery.

Services available to Stillwater residents

Our surgeons are dedicated to working closely with you, first to determine if weight loss surgery is the right option and then to help you discover which procedure will best support you on your weight loss journey. Whether it’s a gastric sleeve, duodenal switch, bypass, or band surgery, we can find the one that is right for you.

With these surgeries, our hope is that your body begins to adapt the changes and quickly accept reduced food intake as the new normal. We tell our patients that the surgery is just the beginning to the new, healthier you.

Gastric Sleeve
This procedure is also known as a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. It is popular because it reduces the size of a patient’s stomach without bypassing the intestinal tract. Gastric sleeve patients can achieve weight loss results like those possible with gastric bypass without intestinal rearrangement. This operation has less long-term complications requiring reoperation than other surgeries.

Gastric Bypass
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, the most widely-used weight loss surgery in the U.S., can now be performed using a laparoscopic technique, a minimally invasive method that allows for quick recovery. Our patients have successfully attained healthy bodies and lifestyles through expertly performed gastric re-routing.

Duodenal Switch
A modification of a gastric switch, this technique is the most aggressive and complicated. Combining two procedures. Combining two surgical techniques, restrictive and malabsorptive, the duodenal switch has a high success rate in dealing with diabetes and improved weight loss.

Gastric Banding
This surgery, including the Lap-Band, is a laparoscopic procedure that uses an adjustable band to create a smaller stomach. This allows the patient to feel full while consuming less food. The surgeon uses a silicone adjustable belt around the top of the stomach and adjusts the belt’s tightness during routine office visits to ensure maximum effectiveness. Patients generally use one to two pounds a week this way.

Stillwater, OK, FAQs

After surgery, will I’ll be able to return to my normal life in Stillwater?
You will be ready to return to your daily routine almost immediately. Going to work, taking the kids to soccer practice, or running down to the grocery store for milk and bread will still be there waiting for you.

However, there were aspects of your normal life that led to an unhealthy lifestyle. When entering into a procedure with WeightWise, we stress that the work you put in after the surgery is as important as the surgery itself. That means altering your diet, increasing your physical activity, and changing other aspects of your life.

How quickly will I start losing weight with a lap-band?
After any of our surgeries, some patients will experience some weight loss because of the strict diet each patient needs to follow. During this time, the lap band is allowed to heal in place and after six months, patients come in for an adjustment. We will determine how much adjusting the band needs based on how much weight has been lost, how hungry the patient is, and what the patient is eating.

Once there has been a decision, the band is filled to those specifications and weight loss will continue or accelerate. These visits will continue until the ideal fit has been achieved, usually between three to six appointments.

Will my Stillwater-based insurance cover the cost of my bariatric surgery?
In the past, many insurance companies balked at providing any coverage for these surgeries. Presently, obesity is now considered a health issue as well as a quality-of-life issue. While more and more coverage is being offered by insurance companies, there is no way we can know what your insurance covers without seeing it first.

Feel free to contact one of our patient advocates to see what your plan offers. Dealing with insurance can be a complicated and frustrating endeavor. Let our staff do the dirty work to see what kind of coverage you have. For more cost information, please visit our financial FAQ page.

You recommend staying the night. Any suggestions for a place to stay?
Yes! We have a special partnership with SpringHill Suites in Oklahoma City which includes special rates. This allows our patients to rest comfortably after surgery and save a little money in the process. It might be worth considering for the night before surgery as well to make sure you are well-rested.
