Low-Impact Exercises for Weight Loss Surgery

Four low impact exercises for weight loss. A couple is seen walking on a trail.Walking: Sometimes the simplest option is the best choice. Walking is a wonderful way to burn calories and shed pounds. If the weather is nice, get out and walk for 20 to 30-minutes. If the weather isn’t great, you can still get some walking done inside. Buy a pedometer and set a goal for yourself. If you have a flight of stairs, go up and down the stairs several extra times during the day to burn more calories. Put on your pedometer as soon as you can and set out to do all of your household duties. Before you know it, you’ll have reached your fitness goal for the day.

Zumba: Love music and dancing? A Zumba class might be the perfect fit for you. These high-energy, cardio-inspired classes get your blood pumping. These fun dance workouts have great music and plenty of variety. You might even forget that you’re working out!

Swimming: This is a wonderful exercise for people living with joint or muscle pain or who have arthritis or limited mobility. Start swimming 30 minutes a day at a slow pace, then begin to increase your pace. Freestyle swimming for about 45 minutes can burn over 300 calories. You can also try water aerobics or water walking.

Cycling: Do you have a bicycle that’s been collecting dust in the basement or garage? Take your workout outside and feel like a kid again. Cycle at a moderate pace for at least 45 minutes to burn calories or if you want to cycle with friends, get a group of other cyclists together and set out on some of the trails around your city. If outside cycling isn’t your favorite type of exercise, consider signing up for a spin class at your local gym or community center. You’ll get your heart thumping to some music, and you’ll be sure to feel those calories coming off.

Choose one of these exercises to stay active and have fun. Low-impact exercises burn calories and fat, but they’re easy on your body. If you need help with your weight loss goals, contact our team today.
