This has been a hard week for me. I am just simply not motivated to workout. I know I should be, but I just can’t seem to get out of bed in the morning and now it is hot after work, so I don’t want to go then.  Does this sound familiar? In all fairness I have walked at least 30 minutes on my lunch break and Monday I did walk/jog an additional 30 after work, but it is not the intensity I have been doing for the past 6 months. So am I doing enough? Do I need someone to push me? Can I muster up the motivation to get myself back in the gym,  lifting and doing the cardio like I should?

I think my best bet is doing something different. I said a few weeks ago I had set a new goal to complete another marathon before I was 30, so I have joined a running group and we are meeting this Saturday. I even talked my friend Blair into meeting at 5:45a.m. on a Saturday!! Check that off the list.  The cardio is great and I’m excited to start but I need something else to get my strength and flexibility going.  I searched this week on Groupon and I found a yoga studio close to me for a month unlimited! Deal!! So starting August 1st I’m back on my mat. Have any of you ran into situations like this? Just bored with your routine? As an exercise physiologist I feel like if I don’t put the effort into exercise and do different types of exercise, how can I expect you all to want to exercise or try new things.  So my challenge to you all is try something new this week if you are in a rut!! It can be going to a new exercise class at the gym, asking a co-worker to go walk during lunch or just dancing in your living room. If you don’t try something new, how will you ever know if you like it?
