Thanksgiving is all about family, traditions, possibly some football, and of course FOOD. No matter what stage you are at with your weight loss journey (working towards surgery, less than 1 year post op, or 10 years post op), do not let the holidays ruin your newly established eating habits or set you back from all of your progress. Food is still something that can be enjoyed over the holidays. Just make sure that you are making appropriate decisions and altering recipes when you can. If you are not hosting Thanksgiving, take 1-2 items with you that you know you can enjoy. Many dishes are loaded with carbs/sugar. Taking your own dishes ensures that you are able to enjoy different items and not feel excluded or limited on what you can enjoy. We have many low carb recipe ideas on our blog that you may choose from. I have listed some of our favorites on this post as well that may help you plan your Thanksgiving menu for next week.
