What is a Tomato-wich? It is just like a lettuce wrap/wich, but maybe you ran out of lettuce leaves… For this quick recipe, I used large, heirloom tomatoes so it makes for a good base and cut them into thicker slices. Because I did not have larger lettuce leaves on hand, I had to improvise with the tomatoes, but you could use any kind of larger tomatoes that you prefer. I added some cheese and seasonings for flavor. My go to seasonings are Italian, more dried basil, and garlic powder to top the tomatoes and the deli meat.
This is a quick and easy lunch to prep! Most likely you already have these ingredients on hand. For pre-op patients, this would be a good snack to have, as well. However, keep in mind, you ultimately want to avoid snacking after surgery, as it will get in the way of getting all your fluids in. It is also important to consider the timing of your meals so you are not waiting too long in between one meal to the next.
